I got to go…I think Kim was the BEST part…he had a huge huge grin on his face most of the night and he was f**king shredding it. He had a bad ass deep green Gibson SG (I’ve only seen him with a red one before). A friend of mine is one of their ex sound engineers and said they were nervous because soundcheck was a little dicey. But they definitely found their stride after a few songs. I was pleased it was toooooo loud also…I mean it was heavy, but I didn’t have ear plugs and had only slight ringing for an hour or so. They had a VIP / family section.. Tad Doyle….most of the Presidents and Pearl Jam…a bunch of old cats from Sub-Pop…a few guys from the Long Winters…that’s about all I could see. They said Eddie was backstage but he wasn’t running around that’s for sure. And I don’t say that to be a star gazer, but many people were curious.
The thing that was so cool that just cannot be duplicated is that EVERYONE that was there was a fan and everyone was so positive and in such a good mood. It’s like everyone was IN THE PRESENT and when you had 1,100 people all singing the chorus to Blow up the Outside world it was just goosebumps….then they finished the song and the whole crowd just kept singing the verse over and over…the whole band looked out and they all smiled and it was like….weeeeeeeeeeee’re baaaaaaaaaaaaaack. A very cool moment.
